"Women come to us because they have valid childbirth wishes and real concerns. They have heard enough words and stories. What they really need is a game plan they can rely on. They just want to make sure of the best birth possible for mom and baby."

What is your story? Let us meet you where you are.

~ 6 Questions for your Doula ~

 CAROLINE, THE 'HEALTHWISE' DOULA

CAROLINE, THE 'HEALTHWISE' DOULA

Q: Tell me a bit about yourself:

Caroline: Hi, I'm Caroline Johnson. Most people call me Carol, which is ok with me. I get it, it's shorter. As a mom to 2 imaginative girls (pictured above), an experienced caregiver, Nurse and a Doula, I wear many hats.

Q: Why do you do what you do?:

Caroline: I absolutely love what I do for a living.  My goal is to be able to really say 'I inspire women to feel confident about childbirth and find the 'Mother's strength' within themselves. I am a professional and a friend all at the same time!'

Q: Are you trained?:

Caroline: I am a DONA International trained Doula. (DONA is short for Doulas Of North America, a renowned training organization for Doulas and other maternity professionals). I am a ProDoula Certified Childbirth Educator (PDCBE). I am also certified in HIPAA privacy protection act, OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard 29 CFR 1090.1030 and SafeStaff Food handler certification. I hold myself to these standards in my Doula, Childbirth Educator as well as my Placenta Encapsulation specialist practice.

Q: What's your professional background?:

Caroline: I have been in the healthcare industry for over 12 years, the last 6 years as a Licensed Nurse.

Q: What's special about your work as a Doula?:

Caroline: One of the most important things I have learned is that people's needs are not just physical but also emotional and mental. Finding my passion for serving mothers, babies and families is like finally finding home. This is not just a job. To me this a mission. I like to say, everyone deserves to birth-prepared.

Q: What is your birth philosophy?:

Caroline: Each pregnancy, each woman, each birth, each baby, each family is unique! I meet you where you are. That means that I, Caroline, as your Doula, come into your life with exactly zero agenda. To learn about you and to teach, guide and support.

Let's meet up! I have never been to a Starbucks or Panera I didn't like, I like to try new places too and I never turn down a chance for a cup of tea!

 ERIN, THE 'YOGA' DOULA

ERIN, THE 'YOGA' DOULA

Q: Tell me a bit about yourself:

Erin: Hello all of you glowing mamas! I'm Erin. I teach yoga of all sorts, officiate weddings, and enjoy work as a Doula. I guess you could say that I truly enjoy being a part of life changing events. When I'm not in the studio, or attending a birth, I love paddleboarding, dancing, riding my bicycle, and traveling. Above all of that, I am the mother of 2 beautiful boys (pictured above) and understand the importance of the transition into motherhood.

Q: Why do you do what you do?:

Erin: A wise man named Confucius once stated "Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life." It took me about 33 years to apply this statement to my own life and couldn't be happier with my choices. During my own births I wasn't very educated about the process of childbirth and my choices and options. Because of this and the knowledge I have obtained through those experiences and training, my goal as your Doula is to empower you by sharing the information necessary to help you make knowledgable decisions throughout your labor and delivery.

Q: What's your professional background?:

Erin: I am a DONA trained Doula and a 500 Hour Registered Yoga teacher as well as a Registered Prenatal Yoga teacher.

Q: Are you trained?:

I completed the DONA International training initially because I needed to obtain continuing education units for my prenatal yoga certification. I had no idea how it would transform me into craving to do this work.

Q: What's special about your work as a Doula?:

Erin: Once I made yoga and meditation a daily personal practice, I became very in tune with my own body and desires. I also realized that I have a gift for making others feel comfortable in sometimes rather uncomfortable times. I have always marveled over the miracle of birth and all the doors led to this path when I started living my life with intuition.

Q: What is your birth philosophy?:

Erin: Your birth should be an amazing and empowering experience for all who are involved, but most of all, for you. I am here to support ALL of YOUR decisions with compassion and love.
